Who is Jesus

Who is Jesus? What is Truth?

Have you heard about Jesus? Jesus is being preached all over the world for the last 2000 years! Some believe Jesus as their personal Saviour but, many even doesn’t believe that Jesus was born on this earth! But, no one can change the history! The world history reveals that Jesus had lived in Palestine (today’s Israel) in 1st century A.D. It is His life, which had divided the world history into B.C (Before Christ) and A.D (Anno Domini = in the year of the Lord).

Some people regard Jesus as a good teacher, a prophet or a revolutionary person. Some other says that He is one of the Lords or as a foreign God. As, there are many teachings and opinions about Jesus, it is necessary to know the truth about Jesus. Bible is the only book, where from the creation to the end of the world is written authoritatively. And, it is the word of God which teaches the whole truth which God wants to reveal to the mankind. So, we shall find the truth from the Bible.

  1. What the people said about Jesus?

Jesus, while he was in this world, asked his disciples that what people says about him. Then they said, some says He is Baptist John risen from dead, some says He is Elijah, the Prophet who was dead and some other says that He is one of the old Prophets risen form the dead.

Let us see, what they said, who were very close to Him.

  1. What the disciples of Jesus said about Him?

Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Then Peter, one of His disciples said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”.

III.           What the devil said about Jesus?

When Jesus approached a man possessed with an evil spirit, the evil spirit went out of him crying in a loud voice, “I know who you are, the Holy one of God. Likewise, when they see Jesus, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the son of God”.

  1. What Jesus said about Him?

In different occasions, Jesus said about Himself:

“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.”

“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except through Me.”

“I am in the Father and the Father is in me. I and the Father (God) are one. Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.”

“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

“I am the bread of life; I am the resurrection and the life”.

“I am the light of the world”.

“I am the Christ”.

“I am the first and the last”.

The full name of Jesus is, “Christ Jesus”. It means, “The Anointed Saviour”. i.e. Jesus is the savior sent by God to save the mankind from sin and to deliver them from eternal death. He is the creator of all things and He is the image of the invisible God.

  1. What Bible teaches about Jesus?

(a)          The three basis reasons by which Bible proves His divinity:

(i) His pre-existence, (ii)                 His self-existence and, (iii) His eternal existence.

He is before all things, even before the world came to existence. Jesus said, “Before Abraham was born, I am”. Abraham, whom Jesus mentioned was lived hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus. The Bible teaches that Jesus is God and He had been there as “the Word”, before He came to this world as a human being. Also, it teaches that His origins are from of old, from days of eternity.

Jesus had the authority to lay down his life and to take it up again. Because, he is the life, and him was life.

Jesus is eternal. He is the almighty God, who was and who is and who is to come. He exists forever.

While the masters, teachers, kings, rulers, wise men and the great men of this world had existence only through their birth, Jesus is the ever existing creator and almighty God.

(b)          His nature shows His divinity:

He had in him the natural and the moral qualities of God.

He is eternal, unchanging, omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent.

Jesus is faithful, holy, true, righteous, kind and loving God.

(c)           His deeds prove His divinity:

The miracles which Jesus did were the proof of his divinity. Jesus healed the sick, drove out the demons, made the storm to calm, blind to see, raised the dead, and he raised himself from death.

(d)          He proved His deity by accepting worship:

Only God deserves worship. In the Bible, we could see that many people came and worshipped Jesus, when He was born (taken birth) as a baby in Bethlehem (Israel). When He lived in this world, many other people worshipped Him. Many people who were with evil spirits, fearfully worshipped Jesus, saying, “You are the God”, when they met Him.

While the angels of heaven and the saints, never allowed or accepted being worshipped by people, Jesus allowed and accepted those who were worshipped Him. By accepting worship, Jesus proved Himself as God.

(e)          The resurrection of Jesus proves His deity:

The strong evidence of Jesus as God is His resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus reveals His authority over death and evil. The tombs of the great men of this world are still closed; but, there is one tomb in this world which is empty and open!  It is in Israel and it is still there. It is the tomb of Jesus, where He was buried after His death.  As He declared earlier, He rose-up with His body on the third day after His death, and He showed Himself to His disciples and 500 other people over a period of 40 days and gave many convincing proofs that He is alive. Then, He ascended to heaven by commanding His disciples to preach this good news to the entire world.

Saul, a Jew, who was fiercely attacking Christians was completely changed his attitude and himself became a Christian – a disciple of Christ Jesus – when once Jesus appeared to him on his way to persecute the Christians. He then travelled place to place proclaiming the good news that Jesus is “the living God” and salvation is only by the belief in Him.

Those who reveal Jesus even in the midst of persecution are the real disciples of Christ Jesus and true Christians and their strength is the resurrection of Jesus. The deity of Jesus is the base of Christian belief and the resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christian teachings.

Belief in the future life has been found among all nations at all times. Desires imply a possible fulfilment. Thirst implies the existence of water, and hunger of food. The desire to live forever is itself a proof of its fulfilment. The resurrection of Jesus shows that life does not end at death and there remains a resurrection for everybody after death. Jesus will come again to take away those who believe in Him to live forever with Him in heaven and those who does not believe in Him, will be judged and thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur with devil, where they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Are you prepared to meet Jesus? Are you ready to accept Him? If you die today, where will be you on your resurrection? Will you be with Jesus in Heaven? Or will you be in Hell with the devil? Think it up for yourself!

How can you be saved? By simple belief!!

E.g.: Think that you are a debtor, and you are unable to pay it off. Then, one of your friends paid off all your debts without informing you. Till the time it is not informed to you, you yourself feel that you are still a debtor.  But, when it is informed to you that, your debt has been paid off, your feelings will disappear and you will fill with peace. Moreover, you will start loving that person who had done that favour to you. Your feelings as a debtor and frustration will never vanish until unless you hear and believe and accept the good news that your debt had been paid off!!

We bring you the same good news!! When you were unable to cleanse yourself from your sins, Jesus was crucified and died for your sins. He was buried and resurrected on the third day to give life to those who believes on him. Jesus had taken over the punishment for your sins over him and died for you. Now, you are not a sinner. All your sins are forgiven by the crucifixion of Jesus. You are freed from your sins. No more physical work or act is pending for your sins. The burden of your sins will be removed only when you believe this truth. Then your heart will be filled with peace, the heavenly peace!! May the loving God help you to believe and accept this truth. Those who accept, believe and follows the truth, will be forgiven their sins and will get salvation. May God bless you!!
